X-Ray & OPG

Digital radiography and dental panoramic imaging

About X-Ray & OPG

X-rays are a simple way for doctors to see the body from the inside without surgery. They use a small, controlled amount of radiation to take pictures of bones and some soft tissues. X-rays are quick and very helpful for diagnosing problems and planning treatment.

OPG is a special dental X-ray. An OPG shows a wide, panoramic view of the teeth, jaws, and lower face, which helps with orthodontic treatment and checking wisdom teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much radiation is used?

Digital X-rays use much less radiation than older X-ray methods. For example, a chest X-ray exposes you to about the same amount of radiation that you get from the environment over 10 days.

An OPG takes a panoramic image of your teeth, jaw, and surrounding areas. Dentists use it to plan dental implant placement, assess wisdom teeth, support orthodontic treatment, and identify jaw problems.

X-rays are usually avoided during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. If an X-ray is necessary, we use protective shielding and keep radiation exposure as low as possible.

CBCT (Cone Beam CT) creates detailed 3D images of the teeth, jaws, and facial bones. It is especially helpful for planning dental implants, complex root canal treatments, and orthodontic care.
