3D & 4D digital mammography for early breast cancer detection
We use the latest and up-to-date 3D and 4D mammography systems to provide detailed breast imaging. It is done to detect breast cancer early. The technology creates layered images that make it easier to detect cancer. It is especially useful to find issues in women with dense breast tissue.
1
Book your mammogram appointment 1-2 weeks after your period. That time your breast is less sore.
2
Avoid applying deodorant, lotion, or powder on your underarms or breasts before examination.
3
Wear a two-piece outfit so it’s easier to undress
4
Keep your past mammogram reports or images with you to compare
5
Inform our staff about any breast symptoms, past breast surgeries, or implants
6
If your breasts are sensitive, don’t drink caffeine for a few days before examination
3D mammography takes various X-ray pictures of the breast. It is taken from different angles and then combined into a 3D image. Doing so makes it easier to find cancers, especially in dense breast tissue, and reduces false alarms.
During an ongoing mammogram, the breast is gently pressed for a few seconds to get clear pictures. It feels uncomfortable, but it is quick. Most women find it manageable.
Most women should have a mammogram every year after they enter the age of 40 years old. If you have a family history or higher risk, your doctor may recommend starting earlier.
Mammograms can find most of the breast cancers, but not all. Some cancers may be harder to see, especially in dense breasts. So extra tests like an ultrasound or MRI may be needed. Regular checkups and knowing what’s normal for your body are also important.
